Welcome to the Basic Court in Mitrovicë
Kosovo’s judicial system exists to serve the public interest. Kosovo’s judicial system belongs to all citizens of Kosovo regardless of their national origin, ethnicity or gender.
Basic Court of Mitrovicë is one of the seven courts in the Republic of Kosovo. Basic Court of Mitrovicë has four branches: Leposaviq, Vushtrri, Skenderaj and Zubin Potok. Basic Court of Mitrovicë and its four branches offer easier access to the services of the court of the first instance to the population of the region under the jurisdiction of the Basic Court in Mitrovicë including 328 villages.
As a court of first instance, the Basic Court of Mitrovicë and its four branches deal with all kinds of cases. These cases are handled by specialized departments that operate within each basic court.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Court branches in Leposaviq, Vushtrri, Skenderaj and Zubin Potok deal only with cases that are the competence of the General Department. Cases that fall under the competence of two other departments are resolved by the Basic Court in Mitrovicë.
Basic Court in Mitrovicë is the main headquarter of the Mitrovicë Judicial Region, which covers the municipalities of:
-Southern Mitrovica
-Leposaviq
-Zveçan
-Northern Mitrovica
-Zubin Potok
-Skenderaj
-Vushtrri
Court branches serve as a geographical subdivision of the Basic Court and are located in Leposaviq, Vushtrri, Skenderaj and Zubin Potok. Municipality of Leposaviq is served from the branch of Leposaviq, while the municipality of Skenderaj is served from the branch in Skenderaj. Municipality of Zubin Potok is served from its own branch, even the Municipality of Vushtrri is served from its branch, but the municipality of Southern Mitrovicë and Northern Mitrovicë are served by the Basic Court in Mitrovicë.
