NGO ACDC signs contracts to further support translators and legal associates in judicial institutions in northern Kosovo.
As part of the UNMIK-supported project, NGO ACDC signed contracts with ten translators and four legal associates and the Basic Court of Mitrovica and one legal associate at the Appellate Division in North Mitrovica, who are working on translation and selection of case files aimed at reduction of case backlog. The contracts were signed for the period of six months – from September 2020 until February 2021.
This activity is the part of UNMIK programmatic activity, which originally started in November 2018 and was extended multiple times based on achieved results and which aims to assist the judicial institutions in northern Kosovo in reduction of case backlog.
President of the Basic Court Judge Nikola Kabasic and Chief Judge at the Appellate Division in North Mitrovica extended their profound appreciation for the UNMIK’s continuous support through NGO ACDC as the Implementing Partner. They emphasized the importance of the project for work of the judiciary in northern Kosovo. Also, all translators and legal associates expressed their appreciation for the support.In addition to support to translators and legal associates, the project will include setting-up of another courtroom at the Basic Court of Mitrovica and trainings for young lawyers from the non-majority communities in Kosovo, to facilitate their inclusion into the law practice.
